Steel Slabs
A slab has a rectangular solid cross-section where its width is quite greater than its thickness and typically the thickness can be more than 150mm. They can undergo a surface conditioning process to remove any possible surface defects.
Slabs manufactured through the continuous casting route provide a better advantage in further rolling operations when compared to other conventional casting processes, in terms of their unidirectional solidified microstructure, in turn, they provide better properties when compared to the other casting processes.
Slabs can be easily transported when compared to ingots.
They are cost-effective and have significantly reduced manufacturing time compared to conventionally cast stainless steel ingots.
